Are You Really Living the Life You Want?

All that anyone wants is to live a happy life. That’s hardly the most shocking statement you’ll read today. Yet, it’s something that we still seem to be struggling to find. After all, it often seems as though people are constantly trying to figure out what it is about their life that isn’t right and how they can change it. However, the mistake that people make is they assume that their life is going to improve on its own — and that’s simply not the case. The truth is that if you want your life to be better, you need to figure out what’s wrong, then get out there, actually do something about it, and change it. With that in mind, here are just a few reasons why you might not be living the life that you really want.

Your career leaves you unfulfilled

The most common source of frustration in a lot of people’s lives is inevitably going to be their career. It is called work for a reason. However, there’s a big difference between a job that can sometimes be a little dull or annoying, and one that makes you constantly miserable. You should never settle for a job that’s going to leave you tired, sad, and lacking in motivation at the end of every single day. Work-life balance is the key to living a happier life with a career. Think about the things that you really love and try to figure out whether another career direction is right for you.

Your lifestyle is destructive

There’s nothing wrong with going out and having fun. If you are always being responsible and you never let loose, then you’re going to end up tense and miserable. However, it’s often a lot easier than people think to slip into the kind of lifestyle that can be deeply self-destructive.

Whether it’s being hanging around people who are toxic, putting actively harmful things into your body, or even just being out all night, that kind of lifestyle can have a marked impact on your wellbeing. Luckily, there are many things that you can do to change your lifestyle for the better.

From sex counseling to rehab centres to simply talking things through with friends and family. It’s easy to feel very alone when you fall into that kind of lifestyle. But you should always remember that there are plenty of people around you who love and want to help you in any way that they can. It’s tempting to try and push people away but letting them in and being vulnerable is one of the bravest and strongest things that you can do.

Realizing what the problem is and actually doing something about it are two totally different things. None of this implies that making significant changes in your life to improve it, is ever going to be easy. The truth is that anything worth doing is going to be a pretty big challenge. Do not settle for a life that you don’t actually want. Put in the effort to live the life you actually want to live.
